Rockets

Robert Goddard

was an American engineer, professor, physicist, and inventor

who created the world's first liquid-fueled rockets.

His intricate mechanical flying rocket machines

inspired me to imagine, read, emulate, and built real rockets.

Joy Happy Happy! :)

So when I was in the 2nd grade,

I made and launched model Rockets in Lake Placid, Florida.

Prepping a Rocket for launch in Lake Placid, Florida (1980)

By the time I was in High school in Alexandria, Virginia,

I was already making large homemade experimental sugar rockets

(with my own pyrotechnic blend of fuel, oxidizer, and additives)

to increase the burn time and thrust rates...

-without explosions, accidents, or "teachable moments" ... lol :)

My experimental Mach sugar rocket in Alexandria, Virginia,

for my High school science fair. :)

FYI.

The Rocket I made and brought to my school was a  "Live" Rocket,

which contained 11.8 lbs of pyrotechnic (explosive) Rocket motor.

:o

~

But it was not until after 911 that all my prior experiences with rockets, making chemical and pyrotechnic blends coalesce, that allowed me to make a POC- Proof of Concept, the world's first kinetic weapon system using experimental rounds called

 "Slipstream"
